Spaghetti trabaccolara

One of the typical dishes of Viareggio cuisine is the spaghetti trabaccolara. This is a dish that takes its name from the trabaccolo, a small boat used by fishermen in the '30s. At that time spaghetti was for poor people. The fishermen would cook it along with unsold fish, chicken, mullets or other delicacies.

These are still the core ingredients of this dish, rounded off with fresh tomatoes, oil and parsley. Simplicity and tradition brought to your table in the Viareggio tradition.

Spaghetti all'Archiglio

Another traditional Viareggio dish is the spaghetti all'Artiglio, made with crab: always cooked with extreme care and passion, and combined with the unmistakable taste of fresh tomatoes and parsley.

The name, Artiglio, calls to mind the crab's claw, but also a ship that carried out important operations of sunken ship recoveries during the First and Second World War. The crew was composed of divers from Viareggio who courageously carried out important rescue missions before the ship tragically disappeared off the coast of France during the fighting.
